Lightbulb Add "beep" to '91 LS remote entry

Is it possible to add buzzer or something that I will be able to hear when I press my key remote button to lock/unlock my car?
Can I just add a 12VDC buzzer from Radio Shack and connect it to the lock/unlock button wire ? Does it work that way??
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I'm kind of shooting from the hip here but my LS does beep when I lock or unlock the doors. Have you checked to see if the volume **** is turned up?? I don't know if our models have the same set-up but under my steering wheel is a rotary **** that controls the volume. If your car doesn't have it then just dismiss this post as ramblings from an idiot.

What year is your LS? I know '93 and up has the beep. Is that true?

Check your owners manual. I think I recall reading there being a way to turn the "beep" on and off. Yours is probably off and you just need to turn it back on.

there is a remote entry on/off button next to the outside mirror adjustment button; but it has nothing to do with the "beep" I'm talking about.
'90 & '91 LS has no "beep" when lock/unlock or arm/disarm door;
It is a pain every time to look inside the door handle to check whether the door is locked or not
'93 & up LS has the "beep". What year is your LS? Your's must be '93 or newer

Hi Lexie,

Mine is a 97.
Sorry, I thought all cars made sound to signify remote entry. Hummm. I guess not.

I do not think you will be able to install a "Buzzer", etc. of sorts to help you out. If you try it, any install you do would need to be with a 12V buzzer. Check Radio Shack. They might have something already that you can hook in. You will not be able to hook the buzzer into the system, either in series or parallel with existing circuitry. In series it will probably burn up on the first use and in parallel it would shunt the operating device and probably not allow enough current to operate.

Another option is to install a seperate security system. They make them to "Tie" into your existing system.

If only the 93 and up have an audible indicator then I can't help you out but the dial that controls the volume on mine is under the steering wheel. you can't see it unless you're looking up from the floorboard. I didn't even know it was there until a few weeks ago. Did you check to see if it was there?? Sorry if I didn't help, just going by my own experiences.

in 1995 Sewell Lexus in Dallas put one on my 90 ls for $100. recall that it took a small computer card to accomplish because all of the nature of the signal from the on board computer. (not enough signal to pull in a relay for a tone) Best 100 buck i spent on it.

Don't the indicator light flash 3 times when you use the remote to set the alarm/immobiliser and lock the doors ?

Yup.
and the remote entry only works within 1 or 2 feet. No work if you press your key further than that.
I guess that's 1989 technology!! Men it was really cool when the salesman shown me this car back in 1990. Wow REMOTE ENTRY. And the base price started from only$35,000.(you know with cloth seats) I remember the fully loaded one cost only about $44,000.00

Yah, I usually just listen for the door latch or see if the security light turns on/off.

Haha, yah, felt the same way.

Lexie, I thought I had the lowest mileage '91 LS around, but you beat me by 5K!
