Default Lexus LS 400 Suspension Problems. '90

I have a 1990 Lexus LS 400 and it has factory air ride suspension. The rear air bags or pump has been slowly leaking since i bought the car. It wasn't a big problem because when the car was running the suspension would fill up and work fine. Then one day I was going over a moderatly steep hill ("tummy tickler") and that made the leak expand to the point where it would still pump air but wouln't keep enough psi to suspend the rear end of the car. I decided that the car wasn't worth replacing the air suspension with another pump and bags, and I heard that it was possible to switch the rear of that car over to shocks and struts. If thats possible that would be the best option for me. I havn't been able to locate the parts yet but have heard that they do make after market shocks/springs/struts ect. for that make and model. If anyone has any knowledge on the matter and would like to share it with me, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks a ton,
-Killbud

Welcome to CL killbud. Here's a link to 1st gen (yours) information. Under suspension you will see a handful of entries. There are strut/spring combos as well as coilovers that will allow you to swap from air. It is definitely cheaper than replacing with OEM air.

So about $1500 to replace all four air suspension struts with remanufactured units or about $700 to replace with conventional coil springs.

400 using WHAT!?!?

the top mounts (all you REALLY need aside from the obvious shock and spring combo) can be had from a junkyard with all four EASILY coming in under $80.

the rest of the suspension, especially if using OEM springs (cheap as hell used) can be had for no more than 350
