H&R Sport Springs on '90 LS400
Just wondering if these work OK for our cars. I wanted to drop the car just a tad and replace the 15s with 18s to freshen up the look a little. I don't really want all out performance, or else I would already know that coil-overs are the way to go. I just want a little better stance.
My car has standard shocks, no the ride control or height adjustment, if that makes a difference for these springs.
Nate

I would expect a slightly firmer ride, but that's OK with me. One of the main reasons that I like this car over some of the other comparable luxury cars is that it feels so well planted and doesn't "float" around corners and over bumps. I've taken it up and down a couple of twisty roads and I was very impressed for a car that size and that age. Thanks for the quick reply! Would you reuse the stock iso's, or is there a better brand to switch to at that time?

Nat,
I am currently on these springs on my 92 and have been for over a year. The ride will firm up a little more than stock but other than that, no problems. I would advise changing your shocks also, dropping the car on stock shocks does not hurt any, however you will wear them out a little quicker. My setup is KYB-GR2's and H&R springs. With the 18' rims, you can run a 40 profile tire with plenty of rubber to protect the rims. I would also advise changing the bushings for a more sporty ride as well. If you just trying to keep it simple, this will work just fine for you. Here is a pic of my 92 on these springs with 18's. Took this at the beginning of the month....

trukn1,
I am looking at getting 20's... (I know a bunch of guys arent all about that...ANYWAYS...) and I am looking to lower it about 1" front and rear. Do you know if a 20" rim with a "30" or 35" will fit? (probably 245/35s)

Am not a rim/tire expert. You will probably have to run 30's on that rim. I don't think you will have any problems doing so; depends on off set, etc., and you may have to roll your fenders. I could only answer this question with high certainty b/c my setup is almost identical to what he is looking to achieve.

I actually saw your LS on cardomain before I ever bought mine, and to be honest I think it was your car that pushed me over the edge to seriously try and find a nice clean one. So I owe you big!

Thanks for the compliment Steve......
Nat- this is how your setup will look with the H&R's and 18's. I have been on this setup for well over a year now and have had no problems at all. Very firm ride, very planted on the highway, confident in most corners (have had SC owners look at me funny taking corners almost as well as them) and no rubbing issues at all. Very rarely, and I do mean very rarely do I ever bottom out, even over speed bumps and such.

Looks great. I'll end up going with something besides chrome because I have a silver car and I think that chrome would be too flashy for that. Looks nice on black though! The better handling sounds great, and I'm OK with a little firmer ride. This is the first luxury car that I've ever had and a sporty ride doesn't bother me. Went from a 96 Mustang GT with suspension, to a 2001 GMC 1500 with 20s, to a 1993 Chevy 2500, to a 2003 Mustang Cobra with 480rwhp, to this car. I guess you could call this a paradigm shift, lol!
Did you use the stock isolators or something from the aftermarket?
