Non-technical foglight issue 1995 LS400
I must compliment a great deal of drivers of the road for their stupidity. It seems that if you have 2 lights turned on in the same housing you must have your brights on. Not all cars have their foglights at the bottom of the bumper!
It's happened numerous times that other drivers will blind me with their brights if they see me turn on my foglights, or even just have them on, regardless of the fact that they are adjusted properly and illuminate the road right in front of the bumper. I rarely use my foglights because of this. Of course, after I've been blinded by the oncoming driver's brights, I'll flash mine to illustrate that I've not been using mine, but the problem still persists. Does anyone else have this issue?

I have had only two cars that had the fog lights mounted inboard of the headlights - a 79 Mercedes (bought new, drove 10 1/2 years) and a 90 LS400 (bought new, drove 13 1/2 years). Even though I used the fog lights on each of these cars rarely and only in very low visibility conditions, other drivers frequently flashed their high beams when I had the fog lights on.
I verified on both cars that the foglights were aimed properly and did not blind oncoming drivers. I suspect that drivers who flashed their headlights at me simply thought I was being an A-hole even though I was not causing them a problem.
We have no problem now we have cars that have their foglights at the bottom of the bumper.

I Had That Same Issue Too. Thats Why Im Thinking Of Picking Up A Body Kit With Bottom Mount FogLights. I Dont Even Bother To Try To Use Them Anymore Until I Do That Conversion. But I Remember When I Had 10K HID Fogs O Yea Haha Blind **** Fo Sure LoL. Its Because It Reflects The Whole Housing Inside.

Bumping up an old thread, but I’ve also gotten the whole “Drivers flashing their lights at me because I’ve got my fog lights on”. This LS400 and my Mercedes C280 (‘96) both run foglights in the headlight housing. I got pulled over my local law enforcement because they mistook the dogs on my C280 for high beams. After I demonstrated how the fog lights function for the officer, he cut me loose. He even thanked me for explaining to him and showing him how they work and the locations of the fogs.

UK versions do indeed have the fog lights mounted in the bumper, and on '89 - 94 models the inner lamp housing is for high-beams.
On my '90, the fog light glasses were yellow. It looked good, but that idea was dropped pretty soon after.
(At one time in France, all headlights were yellow.)
