I am on stock audio (Pioneer with 6 CD changer). Everything of the audio is working now. I am thinking about up grading the system but don't want to spend a ton of money on it.
I have 2 questions:

1. How many Watts of the stock amp output are for the door speakers and subwoofer on the rear deck? Are the door speakers powered by the head unit or by the amp?

2. Does replacing the door speakers only (eg. with Polk db525 speakers) greatly upgrade the sound quality? What would be a better way to do it?

All the speakers are powered by a separate amp, which is located under the passenger seat.

The stock amp is about 190 watts or so, if its the same as the 98+.

I'm not too sure about the rest. I am assuming you are referring to the pioneer system.

So the amp output is about 190w. The sub uses 40 w. Each speak at the door get about 37.5w (4x37.5=150).
