93 LS400, Cassette Adapter question
stock Pioneer system non nak system with the cd changer. CD changer is missing cartridge and i really dont feel like payin 20 bucks for it and cds are so old school . anyways i bought a cassette adapter for my mp3 player and for some reason when i press "tape" nothing happens and it goes back to the FM radio. even tried to lower the volume inside the car and turned up the mp3 volume and it still goes back to the radio. can anyone chime in and help me? thanks in advance.

Is there a "reverse" button? I dont mean reverse like you are rewinding... its made so you dont have to flip it over to play the other side... sometimes that works. I had to do that on my GS400

Is it one of those gearless cassette adapters? That may be your problem....some tape players will kick those out cause it doesnt see it as readable...

i think it has gears....well in the two holes in the center, there are the white ridges. and on top there is a metallic thing in the middle. but crap, i picked it up at pep boys and expected it to work since my radio has crappy reception for some reason but probably antenna problem. where else sells cassette adapters?

Also, how many times did you stick it in, and it popped back out. I dont know why, but on my GS4, it would kick it out, and id pop it back in a good 10 times before it would start playing. Also, it there any kind of swtich on the side or top of the adapter? What brand is it?

your cassette player is bad man. I would just get a 90-92 nak and call it a day.
I have two pioneer equipped ls400's and they both had bad cassette players when i got em. I got like 5 pioneer replacements and they were all bad as well. Only cheap solution? Nakamichi 90-92. Find one on ebay.
trust me on this
you might be able to make an aux input like PD's since you have a changer. I woulda tried but i only have cassettes in the pioneer ls400s.
cassette adapters sound great on nakamichis. very very subtle hiss on full treble.
