My 90 LS 400 is extremely clean except for 2 things, the steering wheel and the gear shift. Leather on both is really bad.

I really love the steering wheel and gear shift on the 2002's, with the leather/wood combo.

Question? Is their any way to retro fit on my 1990? If not any other options?

I doubt you will be able to do the changeover. You would have to change both the wheel and the airbag for the steering wheel. It will cost and a** load of money for both and the wiring harness for the airbag will most likely be different. You can send you wheel of to have the leather recovered.

The shifter is a different style than the newer LS shifter, so that probably won't work out either. If anything, you may have to go to the aftermarket. You can have your shifter recovered in leather too.

Here, I just did a little LS shifter 101. Here are some pics that I found, maybe it will help you out, maybe not. Oh well, it kept me occupied for a good 10 minutes

I'm getting ready to send in my gearshift for new leather to this place. They quoted me $99 shipping included. I also asked about a wood/leather wheel like the new generation Lexus you refer to. They quoted me $500 for retrofitting the original wheel to wood and leather. I will be sending my gearshift in in about a week.
