Default Key replacement (first gen)

Upon searching, I can't find anything about this subject:

my key remote button is broken and I bought a precut ls400/ES300 OEM remote key off ebay. Will I be able to swap the keys? or I have to carry two keys: one for remote, and one for starting the car?
Thank you.

Yup, this has been covered. For 90-94 cars, you cannot program a key into the receiver module, you have to buy a new EPROM chip. The key will start the car and open doors, but the keyless entry function (remote) will not work.

Some day we should sticky a FAQ about keys...
