Default Question .... (Trac light on first gens a problem?)

I have read different web sights that say if your going to buy a 1st generation Lexus stay away from "trac light" is it that big of a deal and if I like a car that has it can it be disconected without a problem.

thanx guys

Usually track light is on when the check engine light is on also. Could be a few potentially expensive problems, MAF, O2, EGR, Cats, etc.

It's always best to buy a car than doesn't have the TRAC light lit or the MIL lit. Electrics can be some of the hardest things to track down and fix.

do a search on "trac" in the LS forums, theres a ton of threads on the potential causes and ultimate fixes to this problem.

It could be a number of things, as PD mentioned. Im not sure if you can capture a code with a scanner to identify the problem. But do check previous threads, and I'm sure it has been covered before, as i have seen tons of Trac threads for the first gens.
