wasn't it the first true japanese LUXURY car. i remember every rich person on the block had to have one. i must say the 1st gen LS is very well made, 14 years later, my 93 is still going strong.

There are some wierd choices on that list. I don't see how an automotive disaster like the Yugo or the Pontiac Aztek can be influencial, but I guess it's a good example of what NOT to do. Haha. I can't say that the LS400 was Japan's first luxury car. The Infiniti Q45 came out at the same time, and I would rank that in the same class as the LS400 in terms of luxury, but certainly not build quality. Hehe.

The older Toyota Cressidas were very luxurious, people used to call them Japanese Cadillacs, and those were around long before Lexus debuted.

You are right. I remember when the LS was introduced. They were snatched up quickly. It was the it car in many circles - stole Benz and BMW drivers away and are still doing so.
