Hood release doesn't work.
 

I get a dry pull from the hood release. The cable is attached inside the cabin but I have no resistance. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the hood open without the use of the cabin hood release? Help would be appreciated - I was all set to change my oil...glad I didn't drain it first!

try having someone pull up on the hood as you pull the hood release. Your hood shocks might be dead so your hood is not getting enough upward pressure to 'pop' open.

I hooked a bungie cord to the release - pulled back as far as it would go - and tugged on the hood. It is still locked. It moves a few mm and hits metal (the latch). Thank you but no luck. Any other thoughts?

have you checked the cable? If the cable is pulling back considerably, I would suspect the actual latch mechanism itself has gone out.

i have a similar problem.....my trunk doesn't open from the latch inside the car. :confused:

the trunk switch is electronic, the hood release is mechanical.

for the hood, remove the lower dash panel where the hood release lever is located . there are 3 philips head screws, 1 set of wires for the small light on that panel, and the cable for the hood release. remove the cable from the hood release lever (attaches like a bicycle's brake/deraileur cable to handlebar lever), pull the cable with a pair of pliers while a helper pulls up on the hood. if that manages to work, you can loosen the 3 10mm bolts and adjust the height of the latch assembly on the core support (dont forget to adjust the small rubber stoppers at the edge of the hood to make the hood sit flush with the fenders).

if the hood still wont open, try to spray some lubricant through the grill insert onto the latch. worst case scenario would be to break the grill insert to gain access to the latch.

I'm pretty sure the problem is with the latch at the grill. That cable goes all the way back without any tension whereas before it released at 1/4 to 1/3 of a tug. ANY thoughts on access via the grill? I'm not above breaking the grill if I knew I could open the hood afterward.

Removing the panelling under the front bumper will also give you access to the lock.

Did you have any sucess?! I have the same issue and would love to know if I should go through the trouble of figuring it out.

If that isn't bad enough, I found out I couldn't get in when I was trying to jump my wife's mini-van. Oh the irony.

Any input would be appreciated.
