Default whats the best size Rims And biggest Speaker size I can fit?

First.. What would be the best size rims for my 1990 ls400? i was told either 18's or 20's

Second. What are the biggest speakers that can fit and what are the best ones?

i was looking at infinity kappa 42.7i. anyone know of anything better the infinity would cost me about 150 for 2 pairs.

PLEASE search

it all depends on offsets, id say a 19" is the visual max for a 1st gen LS400, but we have a few guys here with 20"s.

ur OE speakers are 4".

im ordering 19's ASA JH9's i just think 20's are too big and you start to loose cornering ability once you get up there too.

just depend os the sound level you are trying to achieve. I personally took out the speaker baffle and bored it out so I could get a 5.25 speaker in the hole, as the factory speakers are only 4". I am running the Alpins Type S's all the way round in the cabin so I can get the cleanliness of the highs and the mids. Am thinking of changing a set to something which can handle a little more bass inside of the cabin, thinking of a JL audio Boston acoutic setup, and changing my 2 12" subs in the trunk over to JL audio as well.

Rim sizes are gonna depend on whether you trying to style it low and slow or flash and fast. 18's are great for the flash and fast, 19's in my opinion are probably the best compromise between the 2 and astetically it looks soo good, 20's can be done but it will either give your car that 4X4 look(if not lowered) or you gonna spend alot of time dodging every hole, bump and crevice since you will have very little tire. I think your rim size should be chosen based on the area you live in and just how well the roads are maintained in your area. I live here in MD and the roads are not too good here and I roll 18's with a 40 profile tire, just dont have time to deal with bent rims all the time. Am planning to go 19's next year but am going to do a little research and possibly borrow another members offsets (NJ240SX you corrupted me,, LOL!!) just so I can keep the same profile tire size I have now.

Trukn1 is right.......20's will give you a look some admire but most in the VIP community dread it unless it is done right - the 4x4 look could get you ticketed. I see so many guys with Buick's, Chrysler's, etc. with 20+ rims and they look pretty ridiculous to me but hey man to each his own. For me I have 18's and the car is lowered. I like the look wiht 18's and would have been happy with 19's if I did it all over again. For me 20's are too big but again to each his own. Just don't make the 4x4 out of you car please

20's lift the car up off the ground way too much. even if you lower it, the fenderwell gap will be ok, but the height from the ground will be too much becuase the wheels are just too tall.

Hehehe much obliged trukn1.

I run 19's and love every second of them

I upgraded the interior speakers to 6.5" components in the front and 6.5" coaxials in the back, CDT's. I have an aftermarket 8" sub in my rear deck but it's not powerful enough for the bass I would like so I am going to upgrade to a single 12 or dual 12's in the trunk soon enough.

Well you ARE pushing a ucf 20/21 as well. Slightly larger body to compliment those 20's. The ucf 10/11 takes a bit more work to pull the look together.

I got 19's on my 04 Accord 6 Speed. So 20's seemed proportional to me. These are big cars, they can handle it. I would do 19's if I wanted more rubber. I think 21's and 22's are just way to much.

i'm sure the handling is fine, i'm just talking about the overall height off the ground. i've never seen a ucf10 on 20's at driving height that wasn't lifted off the ground by the wheels...fendergap is different in my mind that overall height. i like the whole car to be low, no light under the car! airbags will tuck 20's but the car will still be too high at drive height.
that's just my opinion though...
