Spark plug service
Thinking of changing the spark plugs and wires. I want to get an idea as to how much it will cost to do this service by dealer or local mechanic? If by local mechanic, what brand of plugs and wires? Any info is helpful, thanks.

NGK is all you should even consider using. What part of California are you in? I work for an auto-parts store and can give you a "club-lexus" discount if you want to buy your parts from me.
The O.E. plug is an NGK Laser Platinum Part #BKR6EP-11
I just recently changed the plugs and wires in my '92 LS400 and I opted to go for the NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plugs, I think they may last a big longer. Their part # is IFR6T-11. The part # for the NGK wire set is TE120, stock number 6403. The wire set is pretty complicated on our cars, 10 wires total, it's quite a mess. Haha. PM me if you're interested in prices or more information. Same goes for any member on this board.

Only use NGK or Denso plugs. I recommend iridium plugs for long-life, but as long as the plugs are gapped to spec, and within the proper temperature range, copper or platinum should work fine as well. For the wires, only use OEM wires. Aftermarket wires may or may not fit the guides for the wires, which will result in a not-so-straightforward install. Also, they may not be of the same quality as the OEM wires. I think the cost will be around $400, but I'm not certain. I did it myself, so I am unsure of the labor cost or amount of time it takes a mechanic to perform the service. You may also consider changing the distributor caps and rotors if they are original, or have not been changed in some time.

I thought for the 95 ls400, the wire set on sparkplugs.com was 6401 or TE119. which is also cheaper than the 6403.
thats the one i bought, i hope thats ok. i havent installed mine yet.

I just installed my wires and plugs from sparkplugs.com.....they fit great, took me 1hr and 1/2 from removal of the engine cover to puting it back and another 15 mins of test driving.
Sparkplugs "NGK" : BKR6EIX-11 or stock no. 3764
Sparkplug Wires : TE119 or stock no. 6401
Remember this is for a 95 LS400

I'm looking at the manual for my 95.. it says the model no. for NGK is #BRK6EP-8.
What's the difference between BRK6EP-8 and BRK6EP-11?
Thanks
EDIT: Answered my own question.
BRK6EP-8 - Gap: .032
BRK6EP-11 - Gap: .044
Gap required (manual): .031

Aloha, everybody
there is a ebay seller selling NGK spark plug wires. Is NGK spark plug wires good? Is OEM spark plug wire NGK too?
My car has 85,000 miles, how to tell when to replace the spark plug wires? And I'm the 3rd owner; the second owner did not change the spark plug and he did not know whether the first owner did it at 60K miles. So what do look for from the plugs? Thank you for your time answering this.
