Default 1LS Aftermarket Headunit Wiring Question

Question about headunit wiring for the 1LS when using an aftermarket headunit, is there a wiring harness available that is plug-n-play and requires no wire splicing? Or do I have to custom hard-wire it?

Apparently not - crutchfield gives you a free harness when you buy a headunit for them, but its only for the four speakers, and you lose the subwoofer. You can use that harness for the four speakers and hardwire the subwoofer, but its easier to just hardwire everything. I suggest you buy a headunit that has preamp subwoofer outputs.

I should have noted...that I am replacing all four door speakers with 6.5" speakers to an amp in the trunk, also a new 8" sub running to a different amp. Going to run both amps to the headunit with RCA cables... so I really wont be using the stock wiring at all but I need to get power to the headunit...

Any help?

Ok, then its fairly easy, you need to feed power to the new headunit, and you also need to send power on signal from the new headunit to the amps and antenna. Below is the wiring diagram from retrodrive.net. It's pretty self explanatory.

The main wires I need are:

Switched Power
Constant Power
Ground
Power Antenna
Illumination

Help me out here...

In that picture(focusing only on the main center connector) ...

3)ACC is Switched Power
7) Ground is Ground
8)Ant(+) is Power Antenna
10) Illumination (+) is Illumination

Is 4) Back Up 2 = Constant Power?

You can get those wires you need from the scosche wiring harness. I bought mine of Amazon.com for like $12 shipped and it arrived in 2 days. Maybe a best buy near you has one in stock or something. I'll try and find the model #, I think you can get the model # off www.lexls.com. There is a tutorial and it shows which Scosche harness you need. Do a search by the harness model #.

I use my Scosche harness to get power, switched power (ACC), ground, and I power my rear speakers with the deck. My sub and fronts are powered by amps in the trunk.

Alternately, if you don't want to wait for the harness, you can easily splice into the wires without doing any cutting/soldering. Go to radio shack and get these things called "wire taps". They are these little plastic things that where you calmp it onto the wire you want to splice into, stick in the extra wire, and shut it, and a little metal razor so to speak cuts into both wires, and voila, they are connected. Its like a mini-dual-guillotine.

3)ACC is Switched Power - correct

7) Ground is Ground - correct

8)Ant(+) is Power Antenna - correct

10) Illumination (+) is Illumination - you don't need this wire at all, its backlighting for the stock unit.

Is 4) Back Up 2 = Constant Power? - correct

Since there is a harness available I would use it, then you don't have to bother with all this.
