i had no tie rod end bolt clearance issues with fitting 2nd gen LS calipers onto my 90 LS. but, i do recall reading somewhere that the 95-97 and 98-00 LS calipers are not identical. the mounting tabs (somebody called them rabbit ears) are alleged to be slightly different and make one set appear to mount in a more upright position, i cannot verify though.

as far as i know the toyota/lexus part no.s for the front brake calipers on the 95-00 are the same and are interchangeable between the years. when i had compare my 95 repair manual to my ''99 the calipers look identical.

my previous set was from a 98 LS. like i said, somebody claimed that the ucf 20 & 21 had slightly different mounting tabs on the calipers, but i cant find a link to where i had read that. i do know that the 2nd gen GS has this clearance issue with the tie rod end, this is the first time i've heard a 1st gen LS or SC owner having this problem.

i've worked with many sets of 2nd gen LS calipers, but i didnt have the opportunity to compare ones off the ucf 20 & 21 side by side. when i went to my local dealership to order a fit kit (to replace a missing wire spring for the pad retainer pins), the parts guy insisted that he needed the specific year because they had different part #'s between 95 and 00.

maybe we can elaborate further when cts reposts the missing pictures...

thanks for getting the photos working. judging from the 2nd photo, it appears that the caliper might be installed on the wrong side. i'm not 100% certain on that, since i dont see the bleeder valve anywhere in the last photo. another forum member had the same problem with his SC:

i test fitted a passenger side front caliper from a 95 LS on my car today and can confirm clearance issues with the tie rod end. will try to get another caliper from a ucf21 (98-00) to test fit because i'm curious as to why my last set of calipers had no problem fitting.

Once the ball joint change to 95+, it was fit perfect. But the toe was out of spec.
