For me personally I would delete the two resonators... that's what I'm planning to do to my Soarer (and what I was suggested to do from a quite reputable exhaust shop here in Sydney). That's what I was told to do if I still wanted pretty much quiet with a bit of roar on WOT (he said that I probably won't get too much gain if I just replaced the cat. back section).

electric cutouts will rape ur low end torque.

research JBrady and exhaust in the LS forums to see what im talkin bout.

i already know plenty about exhaust systems and backpressure

the point of electric cutouts is the ability to close them on a whim. i dont want the lexus to be a race car, i already have one of those. not to mention they're post-cat so that makes it a little better.

to clarify my original post, i meant any kind of cutout within ~4-5 feet of the header flange, not specifically the electric variety.

i understand how backpressure can affect low end torque

i'm in it for the sound alone..

turbosix, you should just get one of those exhausts that sounds like a turbo and then a switch that makes the blow off valve sound. those are sweet, i'm going to get one of those installed, just need to save up for the rear wing first!

Uhoh the sarcasm police are out to get ya. LOL

I'm pretty satisfied with my cut out mufflers but am now considering some high flow mufflers, cut out resonators with better piping and highflow cat but emissions may pose a problem here in NYC. Dont know if I want all that sound either. I like the slight rumble now.

Has anyone deleted both the resonators and mufflers or, deleted the resonator then got an aftermarket muffler? I have had the resonators removed and it sounds great but wouldnt mind even a bit more out of it sounds wise. But at the same time I dont want it to be roaring like crazy!! Anyone?

ive heard an open car, sounded like crap, raspy as hell.

1 set of mufflers and 1 set of resonators seem to compleement the car very nicely.

I am with you Ewen - I have no resonators and stock mufflers and will be buying a new muffler set when I run true 2.25" cat back dual exhaust. I have a link somewhere showing an exhaust showdown - several different cars / muffler configurations from mild to wild. I am looking for a little more sound but not the typical tuner / glass pack sound - somewhere in the middle. I will locate it and post it.

How about running aftermarket mufflers but keeping the rear two? Anyone running this? I'd like to know how it would sound. I just want a nice, noticable sound.
