Default 1ls 6.5" Speakers all-around?

I am aware that the stock speakers in the 1ls are 4.5" speakers, but has anyone modified their boxes to sit 6.5" speakers all around (front and rear)?

I know 6.5" speakers can push much more air so that's why I was wondering if anyone has done this upgrade.

Discuss!

heres a tutorial for a 5.25 speaker, Id imagine the process would be the same just harder to do for a bigger speaker...

Most likely easier to make a new baffle for the speakers if you plan on running 6.5" speakers. I modified mine to 5.25" with a dremel tool, took awhile and was a slow process, but the speakers fit but you will have to reinforce the one edge b/c it WILL crack once you screw them in.

It's alot easier just to make a baffle out of MDF. Modifying those stock speaker boxes aren't worth the time.

Unfortunately I'm on the other coastline, lol.

I'll try a search.

For the 1LS ones, did you simply just dremel the enclosure into a bigger hole without tampering with the backside?

How did you mount the speaker into the hole after that, just screw it in?

Yeah I just put 6.5 JL Evolution components in my 1ls. The key is spacing. After cutting the hole I bored out a .5" spacer, and mounted the speaker to the factory housing. The key is to not screw the back part of the housing back on. All in all it took me about 3 hours, then again I'm an installer lol. But good luck and take your time!!
