New guy, few questions :)
Hey everyone. I just picked up a '92 LS400 for my wife last week. What a beautiful car. She's completely in love with it. Anyway, I do have few questions I thought you guys could help me out with.
First, the LCD on the heater/clock control is not readable. Is there any cheap way of fixing this? Or am I looking at the $400 from a junk yard?
Second, I would really love to get a cd-player installed in there. Right now it just has the radio/tape option and I have not made a tape in about 8 years Does Lexus make a replacement or a newer radio with an in-dash cd-player? Hoping maybe something out of a newer car would fit. If not, has anyone installed an aftermarket system? I'm not sure I want to ruin the stock look. Would really appreciate some help on this.
Thank

Welcome Topshelf
1.LCD's are a problem with the LS,they usually go out and cost alot to replace.
2.EPK,not all 1st gen LS400's come with a CD player.
3.You can go to any audio store and have them replace the stock head unit, but rewiring and a custom mounting kit is needed. The stock look is nice, but a double din unit with lots of lights looks even better and adds a nice touch.I got my stock head unit replaced yesterday and I abosolutely love my after market double din.It looks way better than the stock head unit at night.
Enjoy the new LS!

Thanks guys, guess I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and pay up for the heater control unit.
And my LS definitely didn't come with a CD changer. I was browsing around and saw some pics of aftermarket double-din units installed that looked just awesome. Problem is I want to go with an MP3 unit and I can't find any in DD size. Anyone know of any? Right now it looks like the Kenwood 8017 will be replacing the current radio.
Thanks again
