Default distributor cap problem

Something weird happened when replacing the distributor cap.

After I installed the new one, the car ran soo horribly, misfiring, knocking, etc.

I took off the new one and noticed that the contact posts were hardly scored at all. I suspected that the new cap was not contacting with the rotor properly.

I put the old caps back on and the car run smoothly now. I got the new caps at the dealer, and the part #'s match. Maybe a bad batch?

Anybody else run into this problem?

thanks, but the wiring was fine. I think it was a problem with the caps, and like I said, I already assembed the car with the old cap and it runs fine now.
