Default seat cover replacements?

on a 1990 LS-400 with 200K the driver, passenger, center console leather is very bad.

The cost of reskinning the seats in leather is much more then we want to spend.

Can you recommend a do-it-yourself seat cover that custom fits the LS-400 front seats and console? It could be vinyl or something reasonbly close in appearance to the rest of the leather in the LS-400

Any experience on doing this you can pass on?

thanks again!

Nice Steve. I was looking at getting a perforated setup, those skins look good.

Good call on the perforated seats - they'd look sweet. Some folks here got two tone perforated leather replacements - looked good.

I wish they had dark brown in the vinyl as thats what the leather is in the car. They have black as the closest.

becaise vinyl is 500-700 cheaper then leather....AND...to replace the just the front leather seats, even as a DIY would cost more then the value of the car.

You can usually get the front seats and console for $600 shipped in leather.

Vinyl (sometimes call Leatherette) or several other cloth or velour materials custom made seat covers (for 90 LS400) for the entire front row (2 seats, 2 headrest, 2 armrest, center counsole) can be had for $150 to $200. Coverking and others.

Thats a more practical cost for this car. Priority be told, I would also like to get the air conditioning recharged and I can do seats in Vinyl and air recharge for a small fraction of leather seats.

My friend had his Jag 2 leather front seats reskinned and recushioned for $900 by a local auto upholsterer. However you look at it the leather DIY reskins seems a major ripoff and even the great value custom seat rebuild is not worth doing with other things like A/C to fix. So Vinyl is an excellent choice.....I only wish they came in dark brown.
