Default What to do with grill...

I've got a 91 LS400 with a fading gold grill. Car is 2 tone(black with grey bottom). I was just thinking about cleaning them up real good and spray painting them black. Any of you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nick

I got bored with my stock grill too and spray painted it black. It looks pretty nice but I removed the emblem and kept it silver. You might want to just spray the whole thing. Just make sure you remove the grill from its chrome frame before you spray!

EDIT: whoops misread that, just buy a new emblem

OK, maybe I need to re-explain this. It is the gold ring and Lexus emblem in the grill. Not the actual grill itself. The gold plating is faded and weathered looking. Black plastic grill is fine, just the large gold ring around the grill and gold Lexus emblem need some attention.

scuff/sand the trim and emblem and then paint them with duplicolor (or any other high quality) chrome spray paint to get the stock non-gold look back.

if u clear it and do it all right (use adhesion promoter) then it should last a long time.

Ditto on what PureDrifter said. I used Bulldog Adhesion promoter on my emblems. Works great.

I sprayed mine a satin black. Most the other exterior trim has black in it...why they chose that metal gray?

Yeah the grey just isn't right. I sprayed my grill flat black and the L gloss black (by brush). It came out good - better than stock. Next I will find a black billet grill.
