well im trying to install a amp on a 91 ls400 but i cant find a freakin place to run the amp power wire. i dont really feel like drilling a hole in the firewall. where did you guys run yours?

well.. the firewall is very hard to get through.. i just drilled a hole on the floor on the driver side.. and.. ran the 4 guage wire around the firewall...

Easy. There's a hole somewhere down by the drivers left foot/brake pedal area. It should be a rubber plug or something. I sent a 2 gauge wire right through it.

I did hole thro firewall. Stinger 0 gauge Expert, it was not fun

I ran my 4 gauge cable from underneath the car and into the main cabin through a hole underneath the driver's seat. Has worked great for the past 2 years through many types of weather and driving conditions.

The cut a hole in the rubber AC boot and then wire will come through behind the glovebox.

Have you tried running the wire up the driver side fender.......out through the wheel well and into the car through the rubber boot in the drivers door where the outside mirror and powerwindow cables run through?

never really bothered to find the hole under my driver seat lol i just found a groument and was like bamm its going in there

just remember to have a fuse right at the + cable just in case of a short in the system. I came in down low on the drivers side and what a hassle to take out the back seat, this was for a 400 watt system driving 2 subs in the trunk. I just took out the small amp in the trunk and put in 2 subs, and I use the output signal from the front tuner into the amp. Just keep the same speakers in the doors they will work just fine the rear stock sub is a 2ohm and needs to be replaced with a 4 or 8 ohm speaker and amp. Then hang on for a great sound experience.

Everything I've been told/read says you can , and is recommended to go ahead and use a 2-ohm Sub, and run the load from amp at 2ohms. Gives you much more power and this is as it was designed.

I suppose running at 4-ohms would be fine to from Amp to Sub.

I intend on running my system at 4-ohms to 4'inch speakers and 2ohms from amp to Sub myself.

Good to know where to look for an entrance for the power cable.. I will , myself, probably use an 8gauge power cable. I don't intend on using anymore than 300watts total.

Seems like there is, obviously, more than one spot to run through the firewall *this is the whole reason I'm trying to utilize all factory wiring for everything I possibly can,.. so I don't have to remove seats , carpet, etc ..

Hope your system sounds great. Are you just putting in subs with the factory door speakers? Using factory deck?

My power wire was drilled thru the fire wall next to the brake booster. o guage wire to a 600 watt amp powering 2 12's in the trunk. Worked fine. Just need to change my head unit.
