Default Supercharging my LS 400

Hey Gang,

I just talked to my mechanic about supercharging my LS. In a little while ( I would say in about 3-4 months) he will do some R&D in my car using ATI procharger blower. This is what we are planning to do.

1. Relocate the battery to the truck
2. Custom fab a supercharger bracket to be fitted into the stock battery position
3. re-program the ECU
4. Increase Fuel Injectors size.
5. Possible intercooler.

We are looking at 8 psi. If this can be done, anyone be interested? I estimated the price would be around $5-$6 thousands. If you are insterested, please let me know. The performace shop is located in the City of Rosemead California.

This shop does high performace cars and specialized in Superchargers.

How much of a HP gain does it do? Is there any other parts that are necessary for this upgrade?

it will depends on intercool or not. Intercooled, you can run at least 3-4 pounds higher.

Intercooled can run 10-12 psi
Non-intercooled 6-8 psi

These are my estimate bhp

Intercooled 12 psi will yield about 420-450 bhp
Non-intercooled 6 psi will yield about 350-380 bhp

Things will be needed for the upgrade:
1. bypass valve
2. Fuel regulator
3. Plumpings
4. belt
5. pulleys
6. intercooler

Edogg,

I will be the guinea pig first. I just read a Turbo Mag. A 2001 IS300 with stock engine is taking 13 psi and produce over 400wrhp. I think the old LS can take it. If not, then we have an excuse to put in JE forged pistons and Billet Rods and lower the compression to 8-9 or so.

Since the bottom end is strong we can boost it up to 15-18 psi. Is that better? lol

I just stopped by the shop again. My mechanic said it can not be done. The battery area is too small and there is not room for the inlet. He said it can be done if we move the fuse box (right next to the battery). He also said re-connecting all the wires will be a pain.

Therefore, it can be done, but the cost of labor will be very much. Now, the question is. Is it worth it?

He said the GS 400 is much easier than the LS. More room on the right side of the engine bay.

Oh,

I almost forgot. My mechanic said it can be done, but it would look like an old hot rod. The kind that the blower would stick out of the hood. I laught so hard......... i was rolling.....
