92 LS actin funny...
hey guys...
my 92 LS400 has been actin up lately. for some reason my car doesnt start. usually a quick jump fixes the problem. im pretty sure something is draining the battery. it cant be the battery itself cause i have a red top optima. and its only two years old.
today i tried to start the car and it didnt want to. it cranked a lil bit then died. i tried again, and all you hear is the click. i tried it a few times and all i got was a click. so then i took out the key and looked at my gauges they were all still on. they car wouldnt turn off?!?!?!??! i think it might have something to do with my remote start. cause when i got out i noticed the parking lights would blink(like they do when i do remote start) and the car would try to start itself, but you wouldnt hear just one click, it would be like 10 clicks. i have no idea whats goin on. so i disconnected the battery cause my car wont turn off. if anyone has any ideas it would be great. i luv this car and i hate that this is all happening...especially since this car is my daily
if anyone has an answer please help. thanx a lot guys

sounds like you may not be getting sufficient current to the starter. Did you have any corrosion on the battery terminals or wires? Sometimes, just cleaning that up will remove the resistance that is blocking the current flow. Corrosion will also prevent the battery from charging which will weaken it. Good to use some vaseline to prevent that from happening. Also, check the wiring between the battery and starter to make sure it is in good shape.

You're right, it could be the alternator, but it's best to check for obvious stuff like built-up corrosion first. As for checking the battery voltage, keep in mind that a reading of 12+ volts does not guarantee that the battery is good as it may not be able to deliver sufficient current under a load.

Same issue
Well I have the same issue and it was driving me crazy cause I changed the alternator and the battery and was still getting stuck and found that jumping was the only thing that helped. After much research I found that after time the starter needs to be replaced. Even though it still works fine, it starts to require more juice to crank, which is why jumping starts it and it kills your battery after continuous attemps without a jump. I hope this helps.
