Lightbulb Hot Seat

We have just bought a 1995 LS and the heated seat on the drivers side will not heat. The button and light both work but still no heat. Would like to get fixed before winter sets in. Any help anyone.

if the switch/light work, the fuse is likely to be okay. use a multimeter and read voltage at the harness connector coming out from under the carpet to the seat. if you have voltage than it's either a loose connection in the seat's heater wiring harness or bad heater element in the seat.

Do you hear the relays clicking? Both relays should be under the passenger side seat.

Same problem, no heat in either seats!! Checked the fuses, they're ok. Guess I'll try the multimeter.

I don't think I'm getting heat either. Either that, or the heating elements are just extremely weak.

Hi,

I'm troubleshooting the same problem on a '95 LS400. The dealership wants $800 per seat to fix.

Can anyone tell me if the heating element is hard to get to. I was told there are 2 per seat. One in the seat bottom and one in the back. Fuse looks fine, lights come on when switches are depressed. Going to check voltage at the undersesat harness next.

Do I need to unbolt/remove the seat to get to the harness/seat plug-in? If I have voltage there, what is the next step to troubleshoot? How does one confirm the heating elements are bad. How do you get to them?

Any knowledge of aftermarket sources for the elements or fitment from Toyota vehicles (probably cheaper)?

Need to reslove this ASAP, getting chilly around these parts.

Thanks!
