Default Large Calipers...Please help!!!

Hello fellow LS400 owners! I own a 1998 LS400 and i painted it all pearl white!! I love it. I am new to this forum, acutally this is my first post. I tried to find some info on this, but this question goes to anyone who ever looked into rims!! I really li ke the Baccarat Mirage Wheels. They have a littl ebit of gold on them... http://www.baccaratwheels.com/mirage.htm check out that site and tell me guys what you think!!! The main problem however is.... I was told that my car has large brake calipars and this is a problem with buying rims. Does anyone know about this?? I would really appreciate any input on this from anyone. I wil post som pics of my car in all white. I don't hink i've seen any in all white on this site, but i could be wrong. And also, what do you guys think of getting 18's?? Alot of people get 20's but what do you all think of 18's? Thanks alot for all the anticipated help!!

Welcome to CL.

Yes, your generation LS4 has 4 piston calipers requiring a hish disk type wheel for clearance. A low disk wheel you'll wind up having to use spacers.

Plenty of past discussion on the wheel and brake forum:

You'll want to call the company and verify an application for your car.

This is b1gredek's LS with 20's. I like this one.

This thread has pics of various set-up's

Mine has 18's and if I get another set, they will likely be 19's.

Whatever your budget and taste allows.

His car looks sweet. I saved it in my favorite folder - definitely what I patterned mine after.

I went with a staggered 18" set (super wide lip in the rear). I had a tough time but took everbody's advice on calling the manufacturer first and got a set that finally fit. I will replace the rear wheel set with 19" when I need tires. Post some pics of your car.

Well, I went around to a few different places, but all it comes down to is that I am screwed. From what I understand, i will need spacers to make wheels fit, and from what i was told, spacers suck! Does anyone know of a wheel that we will just fit right on there? anyone? thanks

I think you should keep looking. There are many wheels out there that will fit without spacers and without rolling or cutting fenders. The key is patience and making sure to call the manufacturer to get a fitment guarantee for the front calipers.

I looked for a long time and ended up panic buying a RUF wheel (staggered) made by Status. Now they look fantastic but they are heavier.

Take your time - search these boards and you'll find great advice and maybe wheels for sale

Using the right offsets and a wheel with a curve on spokes will clear the calipers here's a pic of my front wheel:
