My friend has owned her 1993 LS400 since 1994. Today, she was driving, smelled gas, and pulled over. Suddenly, the engine burst into flames and she got out safely. Fire investigators says that it was possibly caused by a worn gas line near the engine.

Has this happened to anybody else? Was there a recall on such a problem? My friend wants to know if there was anything that may have caused it that's out of the ordinary. She had about 150k miles on it, and was regularly maintained with no problems. It's a bit odd to see a Lexus burst into flames spontaneously...

Any info helps. Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of a LS on fire.
Old hoses on cars that are not maintaned with a good amount PM will break down faster and cost way more in teh long run including totalled

the only car ive ever seen go into flames was my dads old 89 dodge van, the car started smoking with us kids in it, on I-95 going about 80mph (70 is the legal limit, sry popos), and then we saw black smoke, my dad kept driving insisting that it was the car infront of us, and then we saw bright orange on the botton of the dash infront of the glass , and then my dad started to panic lol. we all got out............. but the van didnt far that well, burned up, poor bugger... but that car sucked b*llz so im ok lol. so kids dont buy dodge!
