GREAT , Now that I know the name what does it do , how much will it cost to replace? The lower hose is not really connected, there is like a red "straw" sticking out of the part, but the plastic "nipple" that conncts the hose has cracked off.

It's just a valve part of the vacuum system. I think it's less than $100 but that's all I know on this.
