Default Mr Car doesn't Idle, HELP!!!

When I have my air conditioner on my car runs fine, except when I put it in park, it sometimes dies. When I turn my air conditioner off the car dies and won't idle. It drives fine but when you stop at a red light or something, or put in park, it dies. What to do, do I just drive with my air conditioner on forever------HELP!!!

Yeah, I have an idling problem when my heat is on. It idles too high and it ruins my shifts. Odd.

Sounds like you're having a problem with your TPS sensor. Have you had the car serviced recently?

This adjustable sensor moves to adjust idle speed, it maybe your problem (if a mechanic has messed with it), and it may not be. It could be something else causing your RPM's to drop like a vacum leak. If all fails, maybe proper adjustment to this sensor can help you raise your idle speed.

Here are pics of the TPS sensor, and its location:

Here is more info courtesy of LexLS:

Here is more good reading on the TPS sensor (common issue):

Default Car not idleing

It idles about 700RPMs. I'll have to have that sensor looked at. Does it matter who works on it, can I have a mechanic at my work do it,or do you guys recomend a lexus mechanic??? Other than that I love the car, I can't say it's the best car I've ever owned because I've only had 2 cars previous. I had a 95 Avalon and an 89 Corolla. I love toyotas, this lexus is the nicest I've ever owned!!! I'm spoiled with Lexus, I couldn't downgrade to another Avalon!!!
