Default iPod Interface for LS?

Lexus has not yet officially announced plans to provide (on new or existing models) an MP-3 player or iPod interface.

Virtually every other "peer" brand--including Audi, BMW, and MBZ--now has plans to support Apple's iPod and other popular MP-3 players for at least a few of their new/existing models. . .Lexus had the opportunity to do so with the recently revamped GS and IS models but passed and without comment.

(When I was shopping for a new GS or LS earlier this past summer not one single sales manager at four SF/Bay Area Lexus dealerships had a clue about this interface issue. . .nor did their factory representative, whom they claim they contacted. . .a couple of sales managers didn't even know what an MP-3 player or iPod were!)

Does anyone know what Lexus is planning on doing in this area?

Thank you in advance!

Im not sure what lexus is doing about it, but i get a modual from one of my audio suppliers and the interface works awesome with any toyota stereo. just had a 05 seqouia in the shop and it turned out awesome.steering wheel controls worked and everything just like it was from the factory! this sequoia had in dash navigation and dvd stock. This interface made the unit recognise the Ipod as a cd changer. no cutting of wires just have to call a toyota rep and get a special harness for back of head unit and this inerface plugs and plays, plus it charges the Ipod also which is cool. Any info neede pm me and can get you the unit anytime!

It sounds IMHO good not the best but a lot better than a FM mod, or wireless mod. Sound quality is great just a little quieter than a cd but my sirius does the same thing in my first gen LS with same kit. So we just tell cust to turn it up and bump! lol

OEM IPOD accesory or aftermarket? Wireless works awesome it just depends on the manufacture. the clarion sirius plug and play we sell has a awesome wireless fm mod vs the kenwood one i have in my LS sucks donkey blank "Manufacture says wireless is circumstancial and not reliable" kenwood tech support. so we do hardwire only now due to this info plus in our world its hard keeping doors open if we dont charge a small ammount for install

Lexus needs to get on the ball with this--technology in the car. Upgraded NAVI, SmartAccess for all, satellite radio, and of course IPod connectivity and entertainment systems.
