In addition to my last post, I have a couple questions...sorry for double posting...
I have stock chrome on my car. If I goto 18's, how greatly will it effect my acceleration??
True or False? If you go bigger than the stock rims, it throws off the speedometer a little bit.
Thanks guys.

As long as you keep the same tire ratio, aka diameter, youre speedo will be correct.

Also the ride quality will likely become harsher with the added weight and shorter sidewall.
The stock tire/wheel on my '97 weighed in at 48#'s. The LSportline 18" and BFG 245/40-18 is 52 pounds. The 22" wheel I picked up was like 43#'s and adding in a 30 pound or so tire...the car will be very slow off the line. That extra mass will also not stop well and be a factor in additional brake wear. Not to mention gas consumption.

Just been down this road.
I chose 18" SC430 rims on my 94LS since they are availble for a reasonable cost. Then chose Kumho SPT's in size 235/45/18's and I am very happy with the combo. I had to wait for this size to be introduced in the SPT tire but it was well worth it.
I had thoughts about 235/50/18's thinking the diameter difference would be minmal but am glad I waited. Staying close to stock diameter is important & a 45 aspect ratio gives enough comfort to keep me happy.
Downsides: The wheel swap has let me know audibly what I should have known based on the 178,000 miles I have rung up and that is that my Upper control arms are worn. Over poor quality sections of road you hear that hollow sounding thud.
Handling is vastly improved & I can't wait to get my Daizen sway bar bushings installed for further improvement.
Suspension work on my LS to date have been new oem struts at all 4 corners w new strut mounts in the front & replaced the Lower Ball Joints. Oops also have a Strut tower bar.

As for 22's: didn't want them not interested & can't even imagine how ****ty the ride would be.

On mine the 4# difference was an obvious Suspension compression and rebound wasn't smooth. Handling has gone way up but the fine balance achieved with the factory wheels is gone.
A spring with a slightly higher rate would probably balance the additional rotating mass but then that gives a harsher ride. A lighter wheel tire combo would be nice but even some forged wheels don't have a drastic weight savings to balance their cost. One wheel I looked at from a solid billet after machining was 25 pounds for an 18" , the bare LSportline is 26 pounds. The design engineers assembled the suspension with a specific combination in mind and mods alter that.
All said, I enjoy driving the car and the give-take was as I had expected for the mods done.

I think I read in a post here that a stock SC430 rim is 37 lbs!!! The "star" centers do seem to weigh a little less than the "Pie Plates" btw.
The SPT tire in 235/45/18 is another 28lbs to make a total of 65 lbs per corner. Diameter is 26.3
A 94 LS has a curb weight of 3858.
