90k mile tuneup
Hi everyone,
For my 90k Mile Tune-up, I was looking at my manual, and it did not say anything about replacing the water pump, only the timing belt and all fluids. Is this correct? What have all of you 98-00 LS400 owners done on your 90k tuneup?
Advice.....
Thanks,

I'm at least two years away from the 90K service on my 00 LS, but I plan to replace the water pump at that time. A water pump is pretty cheap so most people replace them when the timing belt is replaced since there is little additional labor involved.
The water pump on my first LS failed at around 75K and caused the timing belt to fail. I replaced the belt and water pump again at 180K during at a 90K service.
I've been told that the later LS water pumps have a much lower failure rate than the early ones. A timing belt breaking or jumping when a water pump fails on a non-interference engine LS400 is no big deal - just an inconvenient. But on a 98-00 LS with an interference engine, a failed
water pump causing a timing belt failure could be very expensive indeed.
