Default HELP ME PLEASE !!! re anti theft system

Hey everyone out there! I'm a paralegal and I have a case that I am investigating re a 1999 LS400. I've done a little reasearch and from what I gather, this car is supposed to be impossible to steal. Something about an awesome anti theft system and not being able to start the car without an "official" key with a chip in it. Supposedly, you can't even hot wire the car. But I have also read that this anti theft system is not completely fool proof. I think I remember coming across an article about a Honda with the exact same system that was broken into and stolen and set on fire down the road from the owners's home. If anyone has some helpful info I would greatly appreciate it !!!

As with anything, nothing is 100% foolproof.

The anti-theft system is a very good system but it is possible to be bypassed.

You need to look at additional things.

Was there any damage to the ignition? Any damage to the wiring system?

If there is no damage to the ignition then you need to look at someone who had a key. You still have to turn a key (or get the ignition to turn by breaking it) in the ignition to unlock the steering.

Here is your bottom line... if there is no damage to the ignition then the person who stole the car had a key.

If you are working on an insurance case and you have a feeling that the car owner is responsible then you need to hire a forensic locksmith! I can give you some referrals if you need them.

Take care,

Tami

These cars can be stolen, heard about them getting stolen more then once. Esp in other parts of the world where they are more popular.

Are you working on the case of the guy who had his LS stolen and torched?

The two most possible would be that the car was towed or there was a registered key/system used. Was this car recovered or is it still missing?

A registered key is one that has been programmed to the car. A key that is not registered will not be recognized by the ECU and will not allow the engine to run.

take it from me iam a Licensed Recovery Agent this car can be stolen !! LOL with or without a transponder key but you would need a transponder bypass module in order to start the vechile or else the computer will shut down the fuel system and the car will not start hope this helps also just curious was the car equipped with a aftermarket remote start system ??
