1990 LS400 Fuel Line Replacement?
My father was crawling around my mom's LS4 (350,000 miles and counting) and happened upon the fuel filter.
He found the fuel line fittings to be rather corroded and pitted, and as the fuel filter is above a heat shield above the exhaust, this concerned him a little.
Any idea how much new fuel lines run and the difficulty replacing them? He's done all the scheduled maintenance to date himself, so there's no competence issue.
I read the posts about replacing the fuel filter, so we're armed with that info.
What exactly the is the procedure to drain the gas tank? The service manual says explicitly, "Drain the gas tank," which is not so descriptive.
Any thoughts on the sheer genius of placing fuel line fittings above the exhaust system?

the best way to do it would be to drive the car until your low fuel warning light comes on then do the procedure to remove the fuel filter. since you already know it i wont go into that but they want you to drain the tank so when your removing the filter there wont be an endless amount of gas dripping in your face. to remove the line all you have to do is trace the lne all the way to the fuel rail and uncsrewthe backets that hold it to the bottom of the car along the way then unhook it from the the rail and slide it out and place the new one in there and hook it up in reverse. you can buy a rail from the dealer which i dont recommend or get one online

Can you tell me just how difficult it is to replace the fuel line? The problem is I went to replace the fuel filter on a 1994 LS400 and due to the seizing of the threads on the fuel line that goes to the filter had to stop. So, I am thinking before going any further I need to have the fuel line on hand and be ready to replace it as well due to the problem. Also, I am going to replace the idle control valve on power steering. Could I get that at one of the 4 web sites possibly? Thanks
