The performance of tint these days is such that a dark shade isn't necessary. I'd wanted 45-50% except the installer didn't have it in stock at the time. Mine has 35% and due to the angle and reflectivity, it appears darker. In actuality, it is readily seen in and out.
A dark shade while it may look nice has characteristics that takes good eyeballs especially at night or dusk. If you wear sun glasses, you are further reducing your ability to see out of the car.

Your tint installer should have known local laws and regulations and should have had the courtesy to inform you of potential problems. When I did my tint job, I was warned that the rear could be 20, but the front had to be at least 35. I went for the uniform look and got it 35 all over.

That maybe true GrandLS4, but as you remember, I just moved to FL from the Pittsburgh, PA area. That's where my tint was done.

I was considering getting limo all the way around but with the law in michigan being that cops have to be able to see the driver, i was thiking of trying the full mirror tint. It is somewhat see through, but from a distance it isn't. Does anyone think thats too tacky to put on a lexus or not? by the way its a silver lexus so i thought it would look good.

My 2000 LS400 has its windows tinted to 35% - the legal limit in Kansas. I wish they were darker. The brand of tint used was Luminar.
Metalic tint was used on the side windows. Non-metalic was used on the rear window to ensure that the effectiveness of the imprinted radio and phone antennas was not compromized.
A pic is in my gallery: https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/sh...56576/size/big
