Default Lower gas mileage after K&N and exhaust upgrade

I recently added a K&N drop in filter for my 93 LS as well as a new exhaust system from the cats back. Exhaust is a couple of Magnaflows with an X pipe. Low end torque seems to be gone as well....Sounds AWESOME though. Any thoughts?

You may be burning it up in sound. When I put an intake on my car my gas milage fell off some also, then I noticed that I accelerated more often and more aggresivly (love the sound) If you have an "open" air intake you maybe taking in heat from the engine, which will rob you of power.

I think you're probably right about the sound factor....I just love the sound, so I tend to stomp on it a bit....and then psychologically because of the sound, you think you have all this power when it's still the little old 250hp engine it always has been. lol

Speaking of horse power here, like the 98s have 290- 300hp, and I can't find any air filters or exhausts for it. I don't want to get wild with my car but what could I do to increase it by 15-20 hp?

You can use the same drop in K&N filter the 93's use...it's part E-2606...about $50.

Exhausts are a much more custom deal....depends, I just went in and told them I wanted a mellow sound....so that people know it's a V8. I also requested an X-pipe b/c I had read where that was the way to go for the LS.

If I were you, I'd start with a Converter.

PM John and get your name on the list. This will be a very worthwhile improvement.

I can vouch for the fact that K&N air filter yields a noticeable improvement.

Now is it the same or will I have to make adjustments?

No adjustments...it's a direct drop in replacement filter.
