Default Q's from a new owner (94)

Hi,

Well I am the new owner of a 94 LS400 w/ 126K miles and am I really happy so far.

I was hoping you could help a newbie out with a few questions:

1) My car appears to have the famous ps steering/white smoke problem. Can anyone tell me the actual name or part number for the ACV valve? Also, is there a toyota part number so I can get the part from them (for less hopefully).

2) My transmission seems to almost barely hesitate when moving forward from a stop. Could this could be Lexus trying make the car very smooth, or could it be something else? Is a transmission flush my first order of business?

3) The Time and Temp guage is "blacked out". Is there a common cause for this?

4) The leather is a bit hard and smooth in the front seats. I have tried Zaino leather conditioner without noticing much difference. Are there any products that might work better?

Thanks a ton and I look forward to being able give something back in the future.

Congrats. I just got one with 146k miles. I like mine too. Mine also has that "barely hesitation" feeling when taking off. It doesn't do it if I give it more accelerator. I am thinking it is the TPS sensor contacts wearing down and becoming glitchy for low throttle settings and am going to give that a shot. LCD's are common and there are easy fixes. Have to take the unit out and send it to someone or look on lexls.com and it has how to do it if you are good at soldering.

Have fun with the car.

Sorry, if I looked like I did not search. I actually searched for all of the topics I posted.
Perhaps I used the wrong terms, but I still cannot find a cross refernce toyota part number.

The air control valve part number is 17630-16040. This part is used in various Toyota models as well as the Lexus models. The cost should be about $70.00.

I ordered mine from www.toyotaworld.com.

Toyota still gets alot of use out of this part on current models. Price difference between Lexus & Toyota in this case is very small. Price above is very competitive.
