Question 91 Ls400, Good buy?

All,

I'm new to Lexus and I have some questions
for you all and just wanted your opinion. I found a 91 with 137K on the
clock. The guy wants 5 for it and I can buy a aftermarket Warranty for
it.

While checking it out I've found the following:
Keyless entry not working.(the Key)
Interior light when you open the doors not working.
The emergency brake light comes on when you accelerate.
The cruse control isn't working.
The havac lights are out but the ac and heat work fine.

The car drove fine and the was no oil leaking from the valve covers or funny sounds from the
tyranny. I did feel a little vibration from the wheel at idle or when
your at the light but that's it. What do you think?
Big buck to fix or replace? Mor problems down the road?

Please advise.

For $5000, you can get a higher mileage, yet well-maintained 95 LS400. You might want to look around some more.. $5,000 on a 91 with 137k miles and some defects is not exactly a good deal.. don't settle!

While checking it out I've found the following:
1. Keyless entry not working.(the Key)
2. Interior light when you open the doors not working.
3. The emergency brake light comes on when you accelerate.
4. The cruse control isn't working.
5. The havac lights are out but the ac and heat work fine.

I'm sure you can talk him down a little because of the problems that already exist.

1. Hopefully it's just a dead battery in the key, which you can replace yourself for a few bucks.
2. Probably a burned out bulb which you can replace yourself as well.
3. Either the brake pads need to replaced or it needs more brake fluid, you check it yourself by popping the hood and looking at the little white container on the driver's side closest to the windshield.
4. Not sure what's the problem here, or how much it would cost to fix.
5. By havac lights, do you mean emergency lights? Did you check to see if either of the turn signals worked? If they did, it could be a broken switch, or maybe a blown fuse?

The main thing you should be concerned with is the history of the car...how many owners it had, any salvage/accident records, and if all the proper maintenance was performed with records as proof.
