It's rumored to be from late 2006 to 2007.

Does it seem that Toyota does a major redo every 6 years? That feels long.
I think the second gen GS is the longest run I can think of lately. (?)

When thinking of the UCF10-21, that body style was essentially 10 years.

If it looks good, why change it right?

Exactly.

In the older days, the change was gradual. Now it seems there has to be a major or people get whiney. Like our generation LS, you see the progression of the body. The GS also has similar cues from first to second gen. BMW and MB from the 60's to even the 90's you can see a basic flow in the lines in the whole line-up.

I liked the subtle integration of German designs in Toyota's cars...the UCF 30 seemed to be a big change from the UCF10-21. I still see the influence, but very little exterior wise was carried over from the previous generation. The headlights just took me by surprise. Where did that one influence come from?

Maybe a some cues from the Bangle camp.

The advantage of infrequent and non dramatic style changes is that even relatively old cars look pretty new. Major changes always date previous models. BMW 745 looks great, but the previous years 740 looks very old, same with the 5 series. I didn't like the Euro intergration in the gen3 LS. Thoose head lights looked to similar to the MB, the LS already had enough problems distinguishing itself from a knock off of the MB.

I do hope Lexus, takes a que from its predominate market (USA) We like big three box sedans. Look at the success of the New 300M from Chrysler, and all the big american sedans (Cadillac & Lincoln ) Or just look at the success of the Lexus flagship, an overall conservative, simple design. When you have as great of a vehicle as the LS, the overall styling only has to be neet. Its like a black formal (tuxedo to thoose how don't know) It is always elegant and classey yet simple. If your design is to flashy you severly date things,(you may remeber powder blue leisire suits, or the "new" T-bird)

Agreed that a subtle change allows previous generations to remain relatively current in looks. The '04 LS with the slightly sharper front is a nicer style IMO. The 10-21 when you look at the flat roof line gives it the appearance of length. The rounded roof line of the 30/31 makes me think it is shorter....that didn't quite work in my view of aesthetics.

I plan on a UCF40 but we'll see.........
