Default For those of you that repaired your flickering instrument cluster, one quick question

Have my cluster out,
have the radial capacitors.
How did you stack or stand the radials when you were replacing surface mount capacitors that were right next to each other.
If you stand them up , there is more chance that vibration will work them loose than if you lay them down on the board.
Some of you did replace them side by side,
hope you can help
Much appreciated

Default Instrument Cluster question-How do you stand radial capacitors up when replacing SMC

Hi
Here is the problem, if you replace two or three Surface Mount capacitors next to each other,
1) there is no room to lay them down
2) if left standing , those caps will vibrate while driving and break the connection.

I noticed that the few radial caps that are on the instrument board actually have some sort of plastic seat that eliminates any possible movement of the capacitor.

I was thinking of putting in hot glue or silicone, but as that expands and contracts, it may cause undo forces on the solder joint.
Help,
Also, OLT said he has not repaced any caps, so had not encountered this situation.
Thanks for any help

I've worked with John Deere boards that go into the combine and all we did was added white 100% silicone between standing radial caps. We also used the same silicone for their GPS.
