What's the best battery to use?
Hi all!
My battery is on its last breath and I am looking for a replacement. Rather than buying anything that fits, I was wondering if anyone knows what is the best battery on the market, how much it costs and where to get it.
It would also be great if you shared your personal experience with the battery that you are recommending.

I usually buy my battery at Costco. Costco has 2 years replacement warranty (not prorated). After 2 years is prorated up to 7 years. Besides the terrific warranty, Costco battery has more CCA (cold cranking amp) compare to others. So your car will start right up duing cold weather.
Just make a copy of the receipt and place it in a sandwich bag under your new battery. So you will have the receipt there when you need it.
my $0.02

Well if you want the best battery it would have to be an Optima one but they are quite expensive. If you're not running an extravagant audio/video system and everything on your car is stock (as your sig states)then don't bother purchasing one.
I highly recommend a Costco battery as Tai has stated.
They were rated excellent in a consumers report issue a while back.
I have one and it performs great, no disappointments at all.
If you decide on going with it you need group # 35. This is Costco's cross reference # so it will be different if you decide to purchase elsewhere.
Cost is in the range of around $45 or so if I recall correctly.
On a side note, I wouldn't place the receipt under your battery even if it's in a plastic bag. If the battery ever leaks acid it will be history.

Keep in mind that the battery is ONLY used when the engine is NOT turning. Once the engine has been started, the alternator proves electiricity. Because of this, the only time you need a very expensive or special battery is when you will be running electrical components (car stereo) when the car is turned off, for long periods of time. This is why optima yellow-top batteries are common at car shows, where the engine is not allowed to be started.
