Exclamation You're absolutely right about that!.....

......but what I was trying to achieve was, that "magic" ride/handling balance I felt in a Mercedes C240 sedan I have driven a few times. That car rides like a dream AND handles like a dream and it comes standard from the factory with Bilstein shocks. I experienced the same "magic carpet" ride in an S-Class sedan as well, with stunning handling for such a large car!! (this one also comes with OEM Bilsteins)........but from what I heard later from various people, the aftermarket versions of the Bilstein shocks are totally different to the OEM ones used on the Mercedes-Benzs and BMWs

I KNOW EXACTLY what you mean. I love how mercedes handles well, while still keeping a good ride. But I will have to agree that OEM Bilstein's are different from the ones selling for aftermarket uses. If you notice, the ones for the LS are marked heavy duty, maybe that has something to do with? I dont know.

I'm still on the stock suspension for now, but I'm looking at a Tein CS setup to get rid of the 4X4 look.

I've been waiting on the Tein CS kit, but it's on backorder for "3 months" according to my vendor. Then this week I stopped by the Tein booth at SEMA and asked them what's going on. They confirmed the rumor that they are redesigning the CS for the LS430 and switching to a steel body. They are also making some "internal changes" that are supposed to improve the performance of the shock. They didn't say it directly, but I got the impression that they are going to make it quieter in operation. They said it'd be "mid 2006" before the new one is available.

I also looked at the JIC Magic kit for the LS, but I'm afraid that it'd be noisy. It has some good design features, though.

97 Bilstein/L-Sportline Springs (Eibach made, with a little more drop).

Bilstein = Good quality shocks, a little stiff, two perch settings

L-Sportline Springs = Good quality and no sag or settling (yet) with 2000 miles on them.
