Default HELP!! Smoke

I just had these things done on my 94 LS400; timing belt, water pump, idler pulleys, timing belt tensioner, idler pulleys, serpentine belt, cap & rotors, spark plug & wires, cap & rotors, air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, throttle body cleaned, oil, power steering flush, tranny flush and a coolant flush. It should run good right? It doesnt!!! It's fine at idle but when I drive or increase RPM's I see white smoke coming from the catalytic converters. The resevoir remains full and the smoke isnt coming out of the tailpipes...I can get out and look under the car and see white smoke seeping out from the catalytic converter. The smoke is actually coming out right before the catalytic converter ( where the pipe from the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter meets). I also have low power on acceleration, it feels like the transmission isn't picking up. I increased my RPM's in park to listen for misfires but everything sounds smooth....then it starts to smoke so I freak out and shut off the car. Whats wrong with my car?

You are burning oil?
What did you find out? If it blew by the valves during the tune up it should burn off in around 15 minutes of driving. Had this problem on my Audi after pressure testing the intake.

The failed PS pump would affect acceleration?

Default me too

I just changed my water pump/timing belt. The car ran fine for 1 hour then lost power and smoked in exactly this same way. I'm assuming the timing belt slipped a notch and it's not burning all the gas- allowing some into the exhaust. Anyone have any clues? top speed 30mph

If it were a problem of you not burning gas then it would come out the exhaust pipes, not right before the cats. I have no idea whats goin on tho maybe you blew a gasket and oil is leaking down the heads onto the exhaust as it finally burns off into smoke when it gets dows to the cats. But that still doesnt explain your 30 MPH situation, lexus computer does funny things when it thinks things are going wrong. Take it to a shop and have the check it out i guess.

Default timing

Dealership says two things are wrong. Timing is off (which explains the 30mph) and one of the catalytic converters is plugged. I guess that caused the heat and with extra gases pouring into it caused the smoke. So guess how much they quoted me for one cat? $1150. I swear to god. $1150 for one cat. That's not including labor. I think i can buy entire car that's been wrecked for that much. Maybe i will. Thanks for your help.

Typical Lexus dealerships.... charging out the wazooo. Good to hear you at least got the problem diagnosed. I would say go to a junkyard and find a cat, itll be a lot cheaper, lol. Or you could go and buy hi-flow or aftermarket cats (if you do this youll want to replace both probebly), take them to a exhaust shop, and have them make flanges for the cats and weld them on or they will probebly take out your cat now and cut off the flanges it has on it already and use them for the new cat. Anyway with this youll get better performance and youll save a ton of money! Just make sure the new cats will fit between the two flanges.

Good luck

Or have a muffler shop replaced both converters and you still pay less than the dealership.
