91 Lexus on 20's...needs a lift
SO I just finished painting my 91 Lexus LS400. It took me 150 hours total counting pulling the front of the motor down, fixing the camshaft leak and timing, and painting everything-----inside the motor compartment and all the jambs... I painted it a light green with a heavy yellow flop and add about 8 oz of metal flake. After I painted it I had to re-clear the whole car to cover the coarse flake... I had the doors off and everything tore down completely---I have plenty of pics. My only problem, I put a set of 20" spinning wire wheels on it and now it's lighlty scrubbing the wheel wells--- I've seen LS400 with 20's before..wondering if anyone knows a good way to raise it slightly--- Ihave a set of coil spring boosters in it now but I need something a little better.... anyways, any help is appreciated....Hope you like it

why dont you flare the wheel wells a bit to accomodate the rims you have on. Raising the car up would make it look ugly.
but yeah, different strokes for different folks..but this definitely isnt my cup of tea. Good Luck with your lowrider.

Just for info. There are wires running above the fender well, once you rub through plastic and get to wires you will have all kinds of electrical problems. Make sure that does not happen. Happened to me before.

SO I do have 255/35.... wish I had gotten the 245 instead.... I'm not really planning on raising it as much as trying to get it to bottom out before it hits the tire. I got wires with a high postive offset so they wouldn't hit the brake caliper but I needed them kinda deep so Icould put on the spinning kit. Kinda looking someone else with 20's to see if they have the same prob. I had to take out the fender lining and windshield washer resivoir to get them on.... Thanks everyone for responding so far.....

Are you rubbing on the front or back? I had problems in the back so I bought these rubber things you put on your spring that makes your springs stiffer therefore raising the car 1/2 or if you buy them bigger they could raise it 2 inches. They cost like $6 at an auto part store. Just tell them you want to raise the car slightly and you want the rubbber thingys. I forgot what they are called but I think it's the best way and cheap too.

I'm not sure if you were planning on going for the lowrider look with the wheels sticking 2-4 inches out of the fenders, but your wheel offsets are definitely way off...and that's the main cause of your rubbing issues.

I think the look you want looks better on an Impala or Caprice, not a Lexus.
No one EVER wants to raise their cars. We want to LOWER our cars. If you have to raise it, that is the usual common sense indication something won't fit right and it sure won't look right unless you use expensive modifications.
You probably did not buy the rims for the LS. They are rims from another car and you think you can just slap em on and they will fit. Shoot at this rate I hope the lug pattern is correct.

Saw a first gen at Lakewood the other day with 20" Giovanna (sp?) with a similar wheel layout. Short of flaring the wells, I dunno if going down 10mm in tire width is going to be sufficient to clear. Like the others stated, lowering will finish the look off.
