Default Oil and Coolant Questions :)

Hey Guys,

Couple of questions I need help on....

1) I am running low on Oil since my last oil change at the lexus dealer. (What type of Oil should I use to "top it off", and is it bad if that oil is not the same as Lexus'.
--->sorry if these are stupid questions (which they probably are), but I'm not properly educated in this genre.

2) If some of you remember, I had a engine swap a few months ago. The mechanic didn't put Toyota Engine coolant in my engine. I know this because it is a greenish color from what I remember. My Coolant level is also pretty low. ----->** Should I just go and buy more coolant that is green (because you aren't supposed to mix colors from what I hear), or would it be better to flush it out and but in the Toyota Coolant?

Your help is always greatly appreciated! Thanks,

-Jason

You can mix oils...factory recco is 5-30, you can have yours in dino or synthetic.

Flush it. When you did the swap, was the coolant level fine? If you are loosing coolant, I'd verify where it is going and fix it.

lexus coolant is green i believe. and oil is oil as long as you change it every 3k miles. Just use 5w30 or 10w30 unless the engine has a lot of miles on it

Lexus/Toyota coolant is red or pink. Prestone is the nasty green stuff.
