lighter socket problem

i'm trying to use a lighter accessory and i am receiving no power. Do you know of a way to fix or diagnose the problem without going to Lexus?

I had this problem on a 98 LS400. The solution was to use the accessory one under the arm rest. not the cigarette lighter. I had the dealer check the cigarette lighter and they said it was OK. Apparently it lights cigarettes but is an unrelaiable power source.

He has a 92 LS, I don't think he has a 12-volt power adapter plug in his center arm rest console.

Does your actual cigarette lighter work when you push it in or no?
If not, check your fuses in your fuse box panel.

the lighter does not heat when i push it in. where is the fuse box?

Cig lighter problem is a common one. Very easily burned out and the socket had to be replaced.

I am having the same problem with my 94 ls400, I keep blowing the fuse. There must be a short to ground, but I have no ideal where to start. Does anyone have any sugestions? My lighter looks new, I have never used it, the car has never been smoked in????? HELP.
Thak you.

If it is not a fuse and you have power going to the connector on back of the socket, there is a small "solder" connection on the bottom of the socket so if the lighter sticks and keeps getting hotter the solder connection will melt as to not burn down the car. If you are good with a a soldering iron then you can just fix it! It is a pretty easy fix....

i had this problem in my 92 and i checked my fuses which turned out good then i pulled the socket out to check the wire connections which also looked good. after that i decided to plug something in hoping that it would work(thinking maybe i moved something back into place) and apparently i did b/c it still works to this day.
