Question What could this leak be?

Hi Guys

My 91 LS has just reached 276,000km with no probs until this morning! I noticed an oil leak (not sure if motor oil, however very thin in viscosity) in the vicinity of the oil filter/front left wheel arch/suspension areas. I inspected the plumbing around the oil pan etc with no evidence of leak. However, I did notice power steering rack slightly "wet" with traces of oil around alloy wheel and near rack dust boot. Any ideas?

Cheers!

Hard to tell from your description, is the fluid brown or reddish color in nature?
My guesses are:
1-Oil filter might not be screwed on tight enough or could just be old oil from when your mechanic removed your oil filter that dripped.
2-One of your power steering lines might have a slight pin hole in it.
3-Driver's side engine valve cover might be leaking.
4-Could even be your driver's side strut leaking.

Most likely it's one of the above I mentioned.
If you still can't find the origin of the leak try steam cleaning your entire engine bay as well as the undercarriage (remove the plastic protective piece/pan if you have it) and then see if you locate the area once it leaks again.
