Default Brake senor....

Just replaced my front and rear brakes today. Just one question on the brake sensor?? Were is the cheapest place to get one? I noticed its not a cheap part for something so cheap to make. Hoping someone out there knows of a good deal.

Thanks

what is a brake sensor?? is it the cable attached to the pad that will wear thru and turn the pad lite on in the dash??
If so, it is dealer only!!! And yes, they cost 4 times as much as BMW's sensor cables !!!!!

Getting ready to do brakes on my 96. Going to replace the rotors with Brembo and get ceramic pads, both likely from Tirerack ($75 per rotor/$50 for the pads) - unless someone has a cheaper alternative. The damn brake sensor is like $100 from the local dealer - can't find anyone in the aftermarket online that can get it. Any suggestions? Cheaper online Lexus parts dealer? Thanks in advance...

This has once again become a hot topic.

The sensors are on the Passenger Side Front & Rear of the car.

These are $66.10 each at a discount price. ( This part # number is for a 94 LS)

Part # 47771-50030 Front
Rear: 47771-50040 Rear

Self Repair Method:

Don't know who to credit the below solution to:

"I repaired my wear sensors, no more warning light. At $120 each for a consumable, I'd rather disable the system like 2UX31 YM did. But by simply adding a layer of solder to the face of the sensor, contact was restored and the sensor should function as it did before. When the sensor hits the rotor and wears off the solder, contact will be broken again causing the warning light".

Good idea to check the condition of your break fluid as well.

I went with Bradi rotors from Ricambi Sport. They are a Brembo subsidiary.
Fronts: J 083-2611 at $68.42 each
Rears: J 083-2609 at $59.24 each

Good luck, damon

That price was from Bell Lexus in Arizona but i would use Forum Sponsor Carson Toyota

Double check part numbers since you are in a 96!! You do know that you only need to replace these if your wear sensor has come on, correct? It is also very likely that you only need to replace one of the sensors and not both front & rear.

Well thanks for all the help. I called the local Lexus dealership here today (appleton,WI) fearing the worse, but to my surprise they only charged me $63 for the front. Cheaper then I thought they would charge. Funny thing was they didn't keep it in stock. Go figure that. So they ordered me one and it will be here tomorrow or thursday.

Had the same problem with mine when I did the front brakes. My dealership had to also order it but mine only cost $52. Guess it pays to live in the poorest state in the nation

I'm just amazed that the dealers don't have it in stock. I mean what do they do when someone comes in that needs new brakes? Tell them to wait a few days. Anytime that light comes on, guess what you need that sensor replaced. Just seems like such a common part that not every dealer would keep a few in stock.
