Default Gauge cluster flashes when brakes are pressed

If the brightness adjustor is turned down past the hard click, whenever I push the brakes the gauges turn off for a split second, and if I continue to slow down (longer the brake is held) the gauges turn off.

If I put the brightness switch back to full it stops doing this.

Never heard of that before....

I had the same problem on my '92. It turned out to be a short, in
the rear trunk lid arm. The wire sending signal back to the cluster
for a dead brake light was broken, and causing a problem. Might
want to look at that.

That makes sense..the back rear light has a short. Have yet to rewire it.

Thanks for the input.
