Default EGR Vacuum Modulator

Couple of months ago, my car started to have engine check light on when I was driving on highway, but it turned off automatically several days later. I had my car checked last week at Lexus dealer and they replaced the EGR vacuum modulator.
To my surprise, the car runs a lot better now, especially under accelaration; more pickup and no hesitation. The hot exhaust gas is now fed properly into the combustion chamber: only under partial throttle (more vacuum) and not under heavy accelaration (no vacuum). I enjoy the car more now for a modest charge (CAD 150 or USD 120).

I don't know if it's legal to do that in your state, but the fuel economy will be decreased and at the same time you'll put more unburnt gas into the environment.

I used to have smoke at the tail pipe at startup. I thought that it could be the idle up valve, but after installing the EGR modulator for about a week, the smoke is gone. I hope it's gone for good, but I can't explain why.

LSpower - Can you snap a few pictures of your EGR Setup and engine so I can see how good it must look!

Thanks,

Also, tvd51 - Which part exactly is the EGR modulator? My check engine light came on and that was one of the things that I need to replace also.

both of those things are what i took out, blocked off the pipe in the back of the intake, and put a resistor in the one wire that looks exactly like thishttp://www.mohdparts.com/egr_mods/defeat/index.html
its a pain for me to post pictures cuz im not the best at that kinda stuff
